SEC signals: more events caught, cleaner data, no more notices or amendments as reports
Effective date: November 10, 2026
The changes below take effect with the first weekly SEC run on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Data delivered before that run is unchanged.
We fixed several gaps in the SEC signal types: sec-10k, sec-10q, sec-8k, sec-20f and sec-6k. You get more of the events that matter, and no more notices or amendments shipped as full reports.
Percent values (metrics.pct)
metrics.pct)Percent values in metrics are fractions, so 0.45 means 45%. We convert a value to a fraction only when the filing text shows a percent sign. A value can be above 1 when the filing reports a change above 100%. For example, "up 175%" is 1.75. Some records delivered before this change carry percent numbers such as 45.0. Treat a value as a fraction going forward.
What changes
| Signal type | Change | What you see |
|---|---|---|
sec-10k | We now read Item 9A (Controls and Procedures). | More internalControlWeakness signals. Before, a company that said "controls were not effective" only in Item 9A was missed. |
sec-20f, sec-6k | Bankruptcy and insolvency cases now ship as bankruptcyProceeding. | Before, these shipped as litigationMaterial. If you filter on litigationMaterial to find insolvency, add bankruptcyProceeding. |
sec-20f, sec-6k | Nine executive-change subtypes are now delivered: chiefMedicalOfficerChange, chiefScientificOfficerChange, chiefCommercialOfficerChange, chiefRiskOfficerChange, chiefAccountingOfficerChange, chiefInvestmentOfficerChange, chiefComplianceOfficerChange, chiefAdministrativeOfficerChange, chiefStrategyOfficerChange. | Before, these signals were dropped or shipped as governanceChange. sec-10k, sec-10q and sec-8k already had them. |
| All five types | signal_name is now filled in on every signal. | The format is <company> <headline>, up to 200 characters. Before, this field was empty. |
sec-10k, sec-10q | These feeds now include only the original annual and quarterly reports. | Late-filing notices (NT 10-K, NT 10-Q) and amendments (10-K/A, 10-Q/A) no longer ship as reports. |
Record counts on sec-10k and sec-10q
sec-10k and sec-10qYou may see a lower record count on these two types. This is a cleanup, not a loss of coverage. Every original 10-K and 10-Q is still delivered, with the same signals as before.
The records that drop out are notices and amendments. They are short or repeat an earlier filing, so they added little. One sample week (Sep 29 to Oct 5, 2026) is a small and unusual base: only 23 10-K filings, in the off-season for annual reports, and 15 of them were notices or amendments. In a wider sample of 66 annual-report filings, 22 (about a third) were notices or amendments. For 10-Q it was 7 of 33 filings in the sample week.
